Windows 8 to cost $70 – opened for pre-order

Microsoft have opened up pre-orders for Windows 8, with the operating system costing $40 to download or $70 for the DVD pack. Users can wait till October 26th to be able to download it for $40.

Those who have already got a Windows 7 PC and bought it between June 2 2012 and January 2013 will be able to update to Windows 8 Pro for $15 (they offer this to make sure sales of PC’s didn’t drop before the release of Windows 8).

Acer, Dell, HP, Sony, Samsung and Asustek are also beginning to take pre-orders for computers with Windows 8 already installed.
