Samsung has asked to view Apple’s most guarded asset. iOS’s source code. In a request filed on Friday, Samsung requested to view Apple’s source code for the latest version of iOS to see if the software infringes on their patents.

“[The request] doesn’t make any sense. Samsung is saying that we should give up protecting our most important data,” Apple said, noting that this request was “insane” and “ridiculous”.

The Notification Centre is the part of iOS under-fire from Samsung, introduced in iOS 5. According to Samsung the Notification Centre infringes on their patents. Samsung said they patented a feature identical to Apple’s in 2006 which was later on used in Android devices.

Back in November 2011, Apple was ordered to handover the source code for the iPhone 4S in a lawsuit in Australia.
