An Australian online shop has a tax for Internet Explorer 7 users.
Kogan.com has placed a 6.8% (0.1% for every month since Internet Explorer’s launch) tax on all items for all users who are using the very outdated version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, IE7.
Ruslan Kogan, Chief Executive of Kogan.com, said “I was constantly on the line to my web team. The amount of work and effort involved in making our website look normal on IE7 equalled the combined time of designing for Chrome, Safari and Firefox.” He also said that it is unlikely that anyone will actually pay the charges, they will just update to a newer browser.
One user on Twitter said “”Love your IE7 tax. I hope it becomes effective”
