For those who don’t know what iGoogle is; no this isn’t another Apple iProduct, it’s something Google has made which I used to use and I believe my sister still does use. iGoogle is basically your own personalized homepage which contains a Google search bar and your choice of gadgets like your emails, google news and the weather.

Users have 16 months or till November 1, 2013 to download some of the gadgets you may want, like your to do list for example. The mobile version of iGoogle is about to be retired, July 31st 2012 is when it will be retired.

It appears Google is blaming it’s self for it dying saying: “with modern apps that run on platforms like Chrome and Android, the need for something like iGoogle has eroded over time”.

I am very sad. According to Google, I must be eroding too because I use a desktop computer and do not use a cell phone with mobile apps. I like Firefox and do not want to have to switch to chrome. My iGoogle page has everything I need - news feeds, converters, a game, a notepad, etc. Shutting down iGoogle will leave me without many of these valued services. It is very disrespectful of Google to do this to many users who do not like to be forced to use what Google thinks is best for them.

I hate how Google seems to be always killing off good services.

Thing is, it is clearly not that good of a service because they would not shut it off if it was been used more.
