After announcing that they were “completely blown away” by demand for the new iPhone 5, Apple announce that they received more than 2 million preorders in just 24 hours.

This is more than double the 1 million figure that the iPhone 4S saw, and shows that consumers aren’t put up by the minor improvements.

The iPhone 5 will feature 4G LTE, a 4.0″ display, and new design among other things, and some were saying that these changes will not be big enough to bring in lots of customers.

Having said that however, expectations were high after Apple’s servers were overwhelmed on Friday and many carriers had also set pushed back estimated times of delivery.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s Head of Marketing, said “iPhone 5 preorders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal.”

Customers have been showing their dedication in other ways as well, with some Apple fans already  queuing up outside stores, and with some arriving as early as Friday, that’s a whole week before launch!

I read from CNET that an alylst says worst case scenario 6 million will be sold by this weekend. 6 million is just crazy!

I just got emailed by Apple this press announcement, sounds good that they're doing so well and I can see why they are struggling with the phones (delaying issues).
